In addition to the research that tests the validity of SYM-COIN, we conduct streams of research in the laboratory and the field that are dovetailed with the common theme of our lab. These include empathy between people in different groups and social classes (i.e., intergroup empathy), people’s attitudes toward war, peace, and unification of the Korean peninsula, ostracism, political behavior, organizational behavior, and Korea-Japan comparisons on emotional experiences and expressions. Since the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic, we have also been working with multinational collaboration groups to examine similarities and differences in the ways people respond to the pandemic situations across nations.
